I've realized that certain aspects of weather really, really piss me off.

Particularly, I find it incredibly displeasing when weather is acting fickle, or trying to be two things at the same time. Why does it have to be windy and cold when the sun's out in mid-April? It's mid-April, not fucking November. If it's going to appear sunny and warm, why can't weather actually be sunny and warm? And the other way works as well: when it's cloudy and windy, why not be cold? I mean, for God's sake, it looks cold. I'm living on the 4th floor, so going outside with a heavy jacket on and then realizing that it's really quite stifling, and then climbing back up 4 flights of stairs to change my jacket is really a monstrously harrowing experience.

Today, for example, it looks nice out. I want to be able to wear capris and a thin top. I really, really do. But some asshole up near the clouds decided that wind wasn't a terrible idea, except, no, for us minion humans down here who have to walk across college campuses for 4 straight classes, it really isn't such a great idea. In fact, it's a cruel and tactless idea. The weather is a duplicitous little man who has nothing better to do with his time than to fool all of us into thinking that it's warm outside, when really, it's like we're in a goddamn arctic circle.

--

Except, okay, I'm really not as volatile as you may think. I'm a little bit irked. But not too much.

Well, maybe a bit.

Oh no, that's just his arms, if you wanna know if he loves you so, it's in his kiss (that's where it is)...

So, limewire decided to stop being a fucktard and actually start downloading my shit, so I've been downloading songs that have been in my head for the past week or two...songs that included are Cher's version of It's In His Kiss, formally known as the Shoop Shoop Song (? I'm seriously not kidding), and that one by Rihanna...you know, the one about rain and that rhymes with jumbrella...

I'm back at Vassar, and have just had my first class in, oh, a little bit more than two weeks. I've realized that my classes end at May 6th, which is so much earlier than I thought they would end, so basically, 6 weeks of class left! I'm really excited. So basically, my schedule of major events during the rest of this year is:

- May 6th: Classes end
- May 9th: My Chemical Romance concert, what what
- May 19th: End of exams
- May 25th: Cousin's wedding that I must attend, and expect some sort of new development in family drama
- Sometime at the end of May: Go back to Seoul for a few days - a week
- Sometime early June: Go back to Saudi Arabia
- For the rest of the month of June/beginning of July: travel around Greece, Turkey, Kuwait, possibly Bahrain
- Rest of summer until the end of August/beginning of September: VASSARRR

So basically you all have a nice little schedule of my life until September, yay you!

--

The weather's finally getting really nice and sunny, and we all know what that means: the invasion of prospies! If you didn't know what a prospie was, it's basically short for a 'prospective students'. As college decisions come out in, oh, a week or so, a ton of parents and high school seniors have invaded the campus, as well as some of my classes. Today a girl with no obvious sense of style (wearing a striped, black and white shirt, a black vest over that, a flowy skirt with red flowers over it, jeans underneath that, and black converses) came into my class, saying "Hi! I'm ______, I'm a senior from high school, and I'm so glad to be able to join your class today!", thinking that if she were nice to the college freshmen or my professor, she'll get into Vassar, or something.

I looked over at the girl next to me (named Lauren Bell) and she shared my feeling of disgust. As we left the classroom today, the girl went over to our professor to thank her for the "wonderful class" and the girl that was sitting next to me just goes, "I think I just threw up in my mouth, a little."

Oh, Lauren Bell, how you make me laugh.

--

So I've reverted back to my obsession with tic tacs (IT'S ALL LINH'S FAULT, SHE STARTED THE TOPIC WAY BACK IN ONE OF HER LJ POSTS), and have bought two Wintergreen tic tac boxes. I opened one absent-mindedly and now I can't tell which one that I opened...I don't want to open two at the same time, that's just bad taste, but the damned perforations are basically non-existent...maybe I'll open this one....

OHHH YESSS IT WAS THE ONE THAT WAS OPEN...

FUCK MEEE I AM INVINCIBLE

Greetings from Northwestern!

It really has been awesome being at Northwestern + Sara (good GOD it's been so long since we've last been together). Meeting her friends has actually been really cool; all of them are really nice and seem to be really great people. One of her friends, Kate, actually told me:

"Sam, why don't you come and visit us more often? I've only known you for 3ish hours and already I really like you!"

...Yeah that does sound creepy if you don't actually hear her say it, but, hey, it's a nice little ego boost. I mean, it really goes without saying that you'll like me upon meeting me, but, whatever, what's wrong with a little praise sometimes?

BUT YES so I've basically toured Northwestern, and am meeting up with Josh, my cousin who goes to Northwestern, tomorrow. He's the really perfect one that I kind of resent because of that fact, and he writes sickeningly emotional entries in his MySpace blog about how being in so-and-so play (he's a drama dude) changed his life, or something similar. It's really kind of obnoxious. This is the cousin who told me that, when he auditioned to be Marius in his high school production of Les Mis (which he got), people watching his audition actually cried.

Pfft.

OH YES! I watched Miss Pettigrew Lives For A Day, and I really really liked it. It was so cute.

Oh, and:

LEE PACE IS A FREAKIN HOTTIEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE

Oh, and why isn't there going to be new episodes of Pushing Daisies in the near future? This is depressing me.

Tomorrow I go into Chicago tomorrow! Yay!

Maxed out credit cards, here we come!

I'm pleasantly surprised to discover that there actually is a song that incorporates my name in it. And not only this, it's called 'Lady Samantha'. BY ELTON JOHN.

How freakishly awesome?!

LADY SAMANTHA

When the shrill winds are screaming
And the evening is still
Lady Samantha glides over the hill
In a long satin dress that she wears every day
Her home is the hillside, her bed is the grave

Lady Samantha glides like a tiger
Over the hills with no one beside her
No one comes near
They all live in fear
But Lady Samantha, she sheds only tears

The tales that I told round the fire every night
Are out of proportion and none of them right
She is harmless and empty of anything bad
For she once had something that most of you have

Hello, everyone! Would just like to say that, for some strange reason, I've been avoiding all things MSN/Facebook in terms of communicating with anyone, for around the past few days. It's nothing personal, I just don't feel like it.

(All those sensitive toward this can now relax; I don't hate you, I just don't want to talk to you)

1. So, I go back to Vassar in 6 days. Whoopdeedoo! Except not; wallowing around doing nothing is really ideal for me, at least right now. Plus, I'm going to have to temporarily say goodbye to my privacy once I get back. And I'm going to miss the family. However, besides all of that, I think I can honestly say that I'm ready to go back, as I know that if I stay in this vegetative state for much longer, I'm going to be obese and unmotivated the next time any of you see me.

2. Have been overdosing on Heroes and House. I've just started Heroes a few days ago and am around 10ish episodes from finishing the first season. Unsurprisingly, it's great and intricate and a lot of the characters are awesome. As for House, I'm almost caught up with the current season. I guess one good thing that comes out of the WGA strike is that it allows me time to catch up with shows I love, but, we all know that I'll be caught up soon enough and will be enduring TV show withdrawal. Mm.

3. WTF I HATE FLUORESCENT LIGHTS

4. UM OKAY SO THE MAMMA MIA MOVIE LOOKS SO FUCKING AWESOME (Meryl Streep = Vassar alumni pride, baby!). Ch-ch-ch-check it out on apple.com/trailers.

5. AS DOES THE DARK KNIGHT...AHHH THE JOKER LOOKS SCARY

6. I think the best part ever in my life was when Hiro said, "GREAT SCOTT" when he transported 6 months prior to when he wanted to transport to. Like, seriously, best part ever. I <3 Back to the Future references like whoa.

7. Um okay so I'm continually astounded by Hugh Laurie's musical talent (who is a part of the charity band, Band From TV):

(WTF HUGH LAURIE HOW DO YOU SING/PLAY PIANO SO WELL)

I've realized that PostSecret doesn't really do anything for me but depress me about other peoples' depressing lives/regrets/problems. I don't really know why I keep reading them ever Sunday, but, I do.

Anyways, someone should give me a fucking award because I WOKE UP AT 7 AM THIS MORNING. I was so happy that I woke up at a semi-normal time (or, at least, more normal than the usual 5 am) and that the sun was actually out when I opened my eyes. It was miraculous, and I never thought the day would come.

I am wallowing here in the absence of the list of movies that I am painfully longing to see. I made the mistake of going over to apple.com/trailers yesterday morning and watching more trailers, thus increasing the number of movies on my list (MISS PETTIGREW LIVES FOR A DAY - HELLO LEE PACE, YOU'RE SO DAMN HOT).

I want to learn how to drive so. fucking. badly. There are only probably two other people I know in my entire dorm building at Vassar who don't know how to drive either. There's a sense of freedom that comes with being able to drive. Being in Saudi Arabia would probably be the most perfect time to learn (because of the open spaces and very few people around the city I'm in), but, alas, I cannot, or I'd be thrown in jail or possibly stoned to death. Women can't drive, which is a little sucky. Then again, it means that I can sleep in the car whenever I need to and let my dad worry about where we're going, so, okay, I think that's cool.

IT'S CHRISTMAS EVE! HOORAH! UNLIKE SOME PEOPLE OF THE OTHER, NEWER BRANCHES OF CHRISTIANITY, I ACTUALLY CELEBRATE BOTH CHRISTMAS EVE AND CHRISTMAS DAY, SO SUCK ON THAT BITCHES. THE CATHOLICS CAME FIRST, AND HENCE WE ARE THE BEST.

Dearest LJ Friends,

So I'm about to go to bed. I was feeling quite tired in my jet-lagged state about a good four minutes ago and was ready to just fall on the bed and sleep, but, somehow I've just gotten a small burst of awake...ness (? I really can't remember the noun form of 'awake') and I've decided that, hey, I might as well put my creative juices to work and just write up a storm on LJ!

I really want to see these movies SO SO SO SO SO FUCKING BAD:

- Juno (Because of the awesometastic cast and its weird indie feel. And Michael Cera, because he is too cute)
- Grace is Gone (Because John Cusack is GOD)
- Sweeney Todd (Because Johnny Depp is FUCKING GOD (different from merely GOD), as is Tim Burton, as is Sondheim, and the combination of the three = FUCKING NIRVANA)
- Across the Universe (Because I missed it when it was out in theaters and from the moment I had watched the trailer back in early 2007 I had wanted to see it)

If someone could get me a bootleg...or a movie theater built in Jubail, Saudi Arabia...that would be AWESOME and would make my day/week/month. If you're having trouble picking between the two to actually give me, I'm thinking the latter would be best.

ALSO I had recently downloaded this song from Juno's soundtrack called 'Anyone But You', and apart from it being a little be too indie folk, I just love the line: "We sure are cute for two ugly people", mostly because it's such an oddly honest thing to say that it becomes cute.

ALSO ALSO hey guys, I know y'all have good taste in movies/music, so, hit me up. I'm spending a month in a country where, without a man with me, I cannot go out in public, so, I'm going to need some things to occupy me in the house.

ALSO ALSO ALSO it's almost Christmas!

The only irony is that, I'm in a strict Muslim country! Ah!

Love always,

M

(You're wondering what 'M' stands for, yes? Well you'll just have to figure it out, and if you do, YOU GET A PRIZE)

I am in Saudi Arabia, and every single muscle in my body is IN PAIN.

Who knew that golf could be so athletic? Seriously, I've always prided myself in being "good" at a "sport" like golf, but I was also highly realistic and knew that golf wasn't a sport that required you to run 50 million laps during every game or so something equally tiring and muscle-straining. So, imagine my surprise when I woke up this morning (at 6 am, not 2 am like yesterday, which is a wonderful relief) and discover that I couldn't move without screaming in pain!

In other news, I think I'd like to state that being back with the 'rents (seriously, who made that shit up? Were people so fucking lazy that they couldn't spit out 'parents', just one tiny syllable more than ''rents'?), and using/seeing a lot of the same stuff that was in my house in Seoul kind of makes me nostalgic for, well, Seoul, and all that it came with it. It really sucks that so many people at VassyVass (? I must be on CRACK) can just easily hop in their car and drive 3 hours to their hometown, where their family and all of their friends will surely be. Jesus, in order for me to do that, I'd have to spend thousands of dollars in plane tickets, and, let's face it, we'd all never truly be together anyway, which was half the fun.

However, as much as this is true, I can't help but feel really pissed off about the fact that high school, no matter how true it is that we've all left it, still lingers on in all of our relationships with each other. All the same tensions persist, and all the same issues continue be issues, no matter how hard I try to forget them or make myself believe that they have disappeared. THEY'RE STILL FUCKING THERE, AND THEY'LL CREEP UP BEHIND YOU ONE DAY AND JUST POUNCE ON YOU.

SERIOUSLY.
